The SS Motto (Loyalty is my Honor) is still crisp and fully legible, with much of the factory darkening still remaining. The edge of the blade does not show any non factory sharpening, and still in great condition - never been cleaned. The crossguards of this Dagger and nut are in good condition. The ebony grip is a nice example with lovely colour, no chips or damage. It has no cracking or signs of past restoration. The symbol button is positiooned at about 7:0 o'clock and the enamel surfaces are very nice. The silvered SS symbol and double circles around them have nice patina with nickel still intact showing just a bit of verdigris around the edge. The scabbard the dagger features steel shell, which is completely straight, and shows some worning. The Chain attached to the scabbard is considered the Type II or sometimes called Type B. Both the upper and lower chain are made up of alternating SS and Totenkopf (skull) links. The first link of the upper chain is stamped with the SS - Kulturzeichen proof of marking, and it is more "squared" type that should be on the type chain. The "Wotan's Knot" cloverleaf securing clip has a good working snap hook with the original spring and DRGM stamped. This is good untouched very rare chance to own - in good condition - Model 1936 SS Chained Officer's dagger, which has no sign of being "messed with".
