Of Royal Air Force and Royal Canadian Air Force interest. A fine leather briefcase belonging to Air Vice Marshal George Brookes (1894-1982) In very good condition complete with gilt Kings Crown and Eagle. George Brookes was born in Yorkshire in 1894 and emigrated with his parents when he was 16. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Medical Corps and served from 1914-16 when he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps and trained as a pilot. He enlisted into the RAF after the war and then transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force, In 1942 he was in England and appointed to the No 6 Group with which he served until 1944, when a disagreement with Bomber Harris led to his replacement. He retired and returned to Canada where he became involved with the Cadets and the Royal Canadian Air Force Association.
