German WW2 Demjansk Shield. Instituted April 1943 for the defence for 14 months of the small town of Demjansk in Russia. The blue cloth backing denotes Luftwaffe personnel. This is a fine example, all complete with backing plate, paper backing & its four rivets. Seems to have been removed from tunic.
