Busch Rathenow Aiming Circle -Tripod mounted c 1940s model # 2011
Busch Rathenow Aiming Circle model 2011 - Tripod mounted c 1940s
Fairly rare item, machine gun laying/aiming circle with telescopic sight, compass with lock and cap, top level bubble, two lower off-set levels, rotates on base with feathered brass tripod connector.
Very good condition, minor wear to cap, original paint slightly worn, all levels, locking clips and rotating parts working.
Unable to date exactly, appears to be a later updated version of one made for the Turkish army between the wars, although this was acquired in Hamburgh Naval Base in 1946.
Turkish interwar aiming circles used in conjunction with indirect fire. It has an optical sight used to pinpoint aiming stakes or known distance objects, a level, and a magnifying glass to read the small numbers around the aiming circle. A compass and another leveling bubble are at the top. Made in Germany by Emil Busch for the Turkish army.
