With its origins in the Aberdeenshire and Banffshire Rifle Volunteers, the 6th VB was formed in the early 1880s. In 1908 it was consolidated with the 4th VB as the 6th Battalion GH. This plate presents beautifully. It has a bright silver backplate - on this a large hobnailed star - on this a hobnailed St Andrews Cross to the centre a strap "6th VB Gordon Highlanders" terminated with a thistle spray. To the centre the Stags head over the coronet.
