General information about the Martini-Henry rifle.
The Martini-Henry .303 rifle is a breech-loading single-shot rifle that was first introduced in 1871 and used by the British Army. The rifle is named after its inventor, Friedrich von Martini, and the designer of its rifled barrel, Alexander Henry.
The Martini-Henry was a popular rifle in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and saw use in many conflicts around the world, including the Anglo-Zulu War, the Second Anglo-Afghan War, and the Boer War.
The rifle's single-shot mechanism meant that it was slower to reload than other rifles of the era, but it was known for its accuracy and power.
