'Heaven Can Wait' by artist Nicolas Trudgian, is a Limited Edition print number 177/500 and tells the story of this badly shot up B17 Flying Fortress of the Eight Airforce ‘Bloody’ 100th Bomb Group returning from an epic aerial battle on the Czech/German border on 11th September 1944. It bears five signatures including the artist Nicolas Trudgian. The other four are/were all members of the 100th Bomb Group and are Lieutenant Colonel Harry ‘Hank’ Cervantes, Captain Harry M Hempy, Staff Sergeant Joseph ‘Joe’ Keenan and Technical Sergeant James Mack. The appropriately named B-17 Fortress of 100th Bomb Group, limps back to its base at Thorpe Abbots on Monday 11 September, 1944. Terribly mauled by fighters of JG4 during an epic aerial battle over the Czech/German border, which saw the loss of 45 heavy bombers, this B-17 made it home on two engines, surviving to fight another day.
