The Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders is a historic Scottish regiment with a rich military tradition. The term "dirk" generally refers to a long thrusting dagger, and in the context of Scottish Highland dress, it often refers to a ceremonial dagger that is part of the traditional attire.

The presentation dirk for officers in the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders would typically be a ceremonial weapon and a symbol of the regiment's heritage. Presentation dirks are often ornate and may be given as gifts or awards to officers for various reasons, such as long and distinguished service.

The design of a presentation dirk can vary, but it often includes features that represent the regiment or the officer's achievements. The hilt of the dirk may be adorned with the regimental insignia, clan symbols, or other decorative elements. The scabbard and blade may also have engravings or markings that highlight the officer's service record or commemorate significant events.

It's important to note that the presentation dirk is a ceremonial item and is not intended for use as a weapon. It is worn as part of the traditional Highland dress during formal occasions and events.
