76th Regiment of Foot Victorian Officers Shoulder Belt Plate

The 76th Regiment of Foot (Became 2nd Battalion Duke of Wellington’s West Riding Regiment in 1881). An extremely fine Victorian Officers Shoulder Belt Plate circa 1844-1855. Described in Parkyn but no illustration. A matted gilt surface with burnished gilt backplate, on this a large multi-pointed hobnailed star, on this in gilt a laurel and palm spray and to the centre an elephant without Howdah Cloth over numerals LXXVI in silver. Original leather backing. A fabulous plate.
