WW2 German Army / Waffen-SS Officers "Prinz Eugen" Pattern Dress Sword by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen
A fine example of the Prinz Eugen Pattern saber, complete with portepee and leather hanger. The black celluloid gripis bound with triple wire, featuring an SS-style eagle on the crossguard and a down-winged Army-pattern eagle on the pommel.
The gilded alloy hilt exhibits some expected color loss. The sword is housed in its original blackened scabbard. The slightly curved blade features a fuller along the back edge and bears the Carl Eickhorn trademark at the base. The blade measures 84.5 cm, with an overall length of 99.5 cm.
This Eickhorn Nr. 1765 Field Marshal Series sword, known as the "Prinz Eugen," was worn by both German Army officers and Waffen-SS members, particularly officers of the Prinz Eugen SS Division. Occasionally, these swords are found with original SS officer portepees attached.
