This is a lovely WW1 boot knife by JH Becker Solingen - lovely war etching on the blade and in immaculate condition. I have one that's mine in my display cabinet at home, otherwise I would have kept this one!
A WWI boot knife by J.H. Becker of Solingen, particularly one with war-themed etching, is a remarkable collector's item. Solingen, Germany, is renowned as the "City of Blades" due to its long-standing reputation for producing high-quality knives, swords, and other edged tools. The etching on the blade adds to its uniqueness and historical significance. During WWI, such knives were often designed for trench warfare and close combat, and some were personalized or adorned with patriotic or symbolic designs. The craftsmanship and etching might indicate that this was not just a utilitarian weapon but perhaps also served as a status symbol or a keepsake for the soldier.
