Key Features of this Plate
The Crown: It features the St. Edward’s Crown (commonly referred to as the Victorian Crown in this context), which correctly dates it to the late 19th century.

The Centerpiece: The center displays the star of the Order of the Garter, within which sits the "Firm" motto. This specific "Firm" scroll at the bottom of the circle was unique to the Worcestershire Regiment, inherited from the 36th (Herefordshire) Regiment of Foot.

The Backing: The green felt visible behind the center represents the facing colors of the regiment.

The Backing Pins: On the reverse, you can see the horizontal pin and the vertical "slider" or wire fittings. This three-loop/pin system was standard for securing the plate to the blue cloth Home Service Helmet.

Historical Context
This plate would have been worn on the Blue Cloth Helmet, which was the universal pattern for British infantry regiments from 1878 until the early 20th century. While officers wore gilded versions with more intricate silver overlays, this Other Ranks (OR) version is made of struck brass.
