This is an excellent example of an Officer's 3-part Glengarry badge for The Queen's Own Highlanders (Seaforths and Camerons), rendered in silvered metal.
Insignia & Design
The badge consists of three distinct components that represent the heritage of the two merged regiments:
The Stag's Head: A classic Highland symbol, the stag's head (Caber Feidh) is the traditional crest of the Seaforth Highlanders.
The Crowned Thistle: Positioned above the stag, the thistle is the national emblem of Scotland and was a central feature of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders' insignia.
The Motto Scroll: The lower scroll bears the Gaelic motto "Cuidich 'n Righ," which translates to "Help the King."
Historical Timeline
Formation (1961): The regiment was created through the amalgamation of the Seaforth Highlanders and the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders.
Active Service (1961–1994): They maintained a distinguished service record for over three decades.
Amalgamation (1994): The regiment joined with the Gordon Highlanders to form the 1st Battalion, The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons).
The Royal Regiment of Scotland: These lineages were eventually incorporated into the current Royal Regiment of Scotland.
The silvered finish and three-part construction mark this as an officer-grade piece, as opposed to the single-unit staybrite or brass versions worn by other ranks.
