The tunic (Mundir) of Lieutenant Colonel of Infantry (probably that of Lt/col Vladimir Krasovitsky). In addition of the shoulder boards field officers wore a double embroidered bar on collar patches and double spool on each cuff whereas company officers had only one of each.
This type of tunic featured distinctive elements to denote the wearer's rank:
Shoulder boards: These were worn by all officers.
Double embroidered bar on collar patches: This was specific to field officers (majors, lieutenant colonels, and colonels).
Double spool on each cuff: Another feature distinguishing field officers.
In contrast, company officers (lieutenants and captains) had simpler insignia:
Only one embroidered bar on collar patches
Only one spool on each cuff
These details helped to visually differentiate between field-grade and company-grade officers in the Soviet Army during World War II and immediately after.
