An extremely rare ‘beak-nosed’ British Georgian 1796 pattern Light Cavalry Officer’s Sabre, by Richard Johnston, late Bland & Foster, London (1798-1847). The sword has a plain, curved, fullered, single edged blade in extremely clean condition. The rare stirrup hilt design has the ‘beak nose’ pommel and backstrap, with a fish skin covered grip with original triple silver wire binding. The scabbard is free from any dents and bears the makers engraved cartouche between the top suspension ring and scabbard mouth. This is a very rare and extremely desirable sabre in excellent condition.
